About Vaultever

Last updated October 25, 2026

The idea

Your camera roll and Files app are excellent general-purpose tools. They are not always the right place for things you want to keep close, organized and out of view. Vaultever gives those things a separate home.

The product is intentionally small in scope: a familiar pattern, local encryption, clear boundaries and a recovery path you control.

What Vaultever is built around

  • Local vaults for photos, videos and files on iPhone.
  • AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption for vault data.
  • Argon2id processing to protect a randomly generated vault key.
  • Optional Face ID or device passcode protection for app entry.
  • Encrypted full-vault backup and restore using a saved recovery phrase.
  • Plain-language explanations of what the app does and does not protect.

Limits

The app protects files inside a vault. It does not protect originals, readable exports, screenshots or other copies outside the app. An independent security audit has not been completed.

Current status

The app is being developed for iPhone. The work includes testing the supported features, documenting how the app handles data and improving device coverage.
